Skin Chronicles 2: A First Foray - Product Review

I finally have a skincare routine!

At 38 years young, I feel a bit behind in the skincare game, but I’m glad I’m here. I’ve pushed play with intention on the skincare routine and I’ve learned so much in the past month. If you missed my lessons learned, click here to catch up.

Having both a daytime and nighttime skincare routine has provided me with a few minutes of slow ‘me time’ that I love. So… here’s everything I’ve been using for the last 30 days along with a quick review of each product.

STEP ONE. Cleansers. The Versed Gel Cleanser and Versed Microcrystal Exfoliator. I love both of these products. They are super gentle and kind to the skin. I will definitely keep these in the toolbox.

STEP TWO. Serums. I used the Hyper Clear Vitamin C serum for my daytime routine and the Versed Retinol serum in the evening. I don’t have an opinion on either of these serums yet. The impacts of serums feel like a slow burn so I haven’t seen the impacts just yet. I’m open to other serums though.

STEP THREE. Moisturizers. To keep within the same family of products I picked up the Versed Moisturizing Gel-Cream for something light. I can take this product or leave it. But I absolutely love Jessica Alba’s Honest Beauty Deep Hydration Face Cream. I loved this as a second moisturizer. It smells so good and provides a layer of hydration and softness to my skin that I love.

STEP FOUR. Sunscreen. Ever since learning how important sunscreen is, I’ve been obsessed with finding the right one. I tried Versed’s sunscreen and hated it. Black Girl Sunscreen, however, is perfect. Just like the bottle says, it leaves no white residue which is a feat on brown skin. It pairs perfectly with the other moisturizers I apply before it.

STEP FIVE. Skin Tint. Since we’re in the house, I only used the Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint on photoshoot days. It’s a good substitute for when you don’t want to wear full coverage foundation. What’s nice about this product is that it comes in multiple colors to match your skin type. I’m not sold yet on this product because I don’t think I have the right shade. I’m open to trying it again.
