2025 moves
new year, new goals.
i’ve been doing a lot of transitioning lately—personally and professionally—and as i started thinking about what i wanted for 2025, i realized that my goals can never just be about my business.
i’ve been in business for about 14 years now, and one thing that never fails to amaze me about entrepreneurship is how connected your business and personal life are. when your health, mental state, family or anything else in your personal life starts doing a little extra, it inevitably affects your business too.
and lately, i’ve been struggling a little with my confidence.
i think some of it is connected to aging, which is wild because somehow, the older i get, the less secure i’ve started to feel. i don’t know if it’s watching all these gen z’ers out here breaking traditional norms, running businesses and killing it, or if it’s simply coming to terms with the fact that i can’t always do what i used to do the way i used to do it.
either way, i’ve been working through it.
i’ve taken up strength training. i’ve started eating in a way that better aligns with my goals. i’m paying more attention to my health and trying to appreciate what my body can do instead of only focusing on how it’s changing. even my hair has become part of the conversation. because i’m working out so much, i’ve started wearing my natural curls more often, and if i’m being truthful, i don’t exactly love the way i look in them. i’m a halle berry pixie-cut kinda girl, so adjusting to seeing myself differently in the mirror has been harder than i expected.
am i chasing youth?
maybe. lol.
whatever it is, it’s been a doozy. and naturally, some of that has affected the energy and mental space i would normally give my business. the fact that honey social had already been draining me certainly didn’t help.
so as i started thinking about 2025, i took all of this to chat and asked for some help refining my goals.
here’s where i landed.
personal growth & confidence
1. reframe aging as empowerment
mindset work: reflect on the wisdom and experience i’ve gained over 14 years in business. journal regularly to identify my unique strengths and remember the moments when i’ve thrived.
affirmation practice: create affirmations around my value, experience and beauty—write them on sticky notes or set them as reminders on my phone.
representation: follow women my age or older who exude confidence and style to inspire me and help normalize this season of life.
2. embrace my evolving look
style refresh: experiment with chic ways to wear my natural curls that still feel aligned with my “halle berry pixie” vibe—maybe incorporating accessories or different cuts that keep things fresh.
celebrate me: schedule a photoshoot of myself featuring my natural curls to help reclaim my confidence in my evolving style and beauty. maybe even use it as content for my brand if it feels right.
3. strengthen my wellness practices
expand strength training: set measurable goals—like lifting a specific weight—and actually celebrate when i hit them.
self-compassion: build in restorative activities like yoga, meditation or walks that complement my strength training and take some of the pressure off.
reigniting my business energy
4. simplify and focus
stick to my restructured honey social model with quarterly stock releases and shop bundles. let this more manageable cadence give me some breathing room.
delegate or automate repetitive tasks like client communication and content scheduling to reclaim some mental space.
5. align my personal and business confidence
use my story of personal evolution—including the challenges of confidence and aging—as a point of connection with my audience. there are probably other women feeling the same way.
incorporate my personal health and wellness journey into my content pillars and explore the connection between taking care of myself and entrepreneurship.
6. create space for innovation
dedicate one day a month to dreaming and innovating for my business without the pressure of execution.
give myself space to be creative and make work exciting again.
tackling comparison & burnout
7. limit social media triggers
be intentional about the accounts i follow and prioritize content that uplifts or inspires me rather than triggers comparison.
set specific times to engage on social media instead of allowing myself to fall into doom-scrolling.
8. focus on legacy, not competition
remind myself that my experience spans almost two decades and gives me a depth that younger entrepreneurs are still building.
focus on creating work and offerings that reflect that experience instead of worrying about keeping up.
look for opportunities to mentor younger entrepreneurs through workshops, speaking engagements or simply sharing more of what i know.
9. practice work-life integration
build clear boundaries between work and my personal life—including actual times to shut off work—while allowing the two to complement each other.
celebrate wins in both areas equally.
reclaiming joy & energy
10. reconnect with what excites me
rediscover what i love most about my business. is it mentoring? photography? creating systems?
whatever it is, double down on those things.
find ways to infuse my business with some of my personal joys—like fashion, wellness and fitness—so that my work feels more personal and fulfilling.
11. create rituals for renewal
implement a monthly “reset day” to review my goals, journal my wins and recharge creatively.
incorporate small daily rituals—morning affirmations, an evening walk or whatever else feels good—to help me maintain a steadier emotional and mental state.
Mantra for 2025:
"My worth is not measured by my age or energy but by my ability to adapt, inspire, and create. I honor my past, embrace my present, and confidently build my future."
This plan allows space for personal healing, growth, and the opportunity to reignite your passion for business without overextending yourself. It’s about creating alignment, owning your story, and finding new ways to thrive.
